When babies are not yet mentally well developed as earlier mentioned, they  have lots of problems with napkins.It is the same thing with baby christians- they struggle a lot with sin. This video tells you more about how, as a child who is conscious of God's presence, you can honour your father by listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

EXCELLING IN THE LIFE OF HOLINESS THROUGH: GOD CONSCIOUSNESS.-1

In life, there are certain things that when we know them or we have the relevant work tools, they make our life and our work easier than would have been without them. This is the simple reason I am going to try to bring to your attention today, to these important work tools, in our daily walk with God, which He has designed to help us to actualize our dreams of fulfilled lives as believers on earth and to make heaven at last. Remember that the Bible tells us that without holiness no man shall see the Lord.

The first work tool I will like us to look at today is what I call – “God consciousness”. The Bible makes us to understand that God is everywhere or is omnipresent. In Psalm 139 verses 7-12, we read as follows:

7 “Whither shall I go from thy Spirit? Or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold thou art there.

9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me; even the night shall be light about me.

12 Yea, the darkness hideth not from thee; but the night shineth as the day: the darkness and the light are both alike to thee.

13 For thou has possessed my reins: thou has covered me in my mother’s womb.”

Here, the Psalmist talks extensively about the Omnipresence of the Creator. One of the things that strikes me about this is the fact that he –David was aware of this presence, and that he was conscious of it to the point of allowing it to guide his actions, although we all acknowledge the fact that at times he slipped and lost this consciousness and sinned against the Lord and was equally punished.

It is therefore established from this and so many other scriptures that we may not go into now, that God is everywhere and that He sees all things and equally knows all things.

However, He does not make this presence noticeable all the time because carnal human beings who are depending on their five senses may not be able to see Him, or hear him, or touch or feel him because the awareness of that presence is beyond the five senses. But this knowledge, of the fact that Jesus said that he will be with us always, added to the fact that he never lied and will never lie, are enough to let us know, that he watches us all the time.

Now let me digress a little- Paul the apostle used commonsense or things that are commonplace at times to teach. In certain places you hear things like-“Does not commonsense even teach you …” or As Paul says in 1 Corinthians chapter 11 and verse 14, “Doth not even nature teach you, that if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?’, well that’s by the way.

 I heard about an experiment, which was performed in the 1940’s, in a company at the outskirts of Chicago, United States of America, in a company- an electrical company known as –‘the Hawthorne works’, company of America.

The company management commissioned some researchers to investigate what would be the effect of improving the lighting condition in the company on the workers’ productivity.

The researchers did their job, the workers were aware that they were being studied, or that what they produced was being monitored. As a result of this, all the while the researchers were in the company, the productivity of the workers remained very high or increased.

However, it was equally observed, that as soon as the experiments were stopped and the workers realized that these external monitors were no longer there, their productivity dropped down to pre-experimental levels. The workers had reacted to the fact that they were being monitored and so tried to their best to impress the investigators/researchers, and when they left they relaxed. In fact some people claim that productivity was even higher when the light was diminished, because they even made a greater effort then to achieve the best. In summary-the Hawthorne effect is a form of reactivity whereby the subjects improve or modify an aspect of their behavior being experimentally measured simply in response to the fact that they know that they are being studied.

Now if you go back to Psalm 139 above, and look at those verses carefully you will know that we are constantly being watched and guided, and studied by God. A consciousness of the presence of God will definitely help us to realize that we ought to be our best at all times.

Somebody reading this will say-well, I know that God might be watching me or definitely watching me, but I am His child and He loves me and should not take my mistakes seriously. After all He is my heavenly father. Oh yes- I know about that too, but would you actually resign to remaining a little baby that defecates on the napkin all the time- is that a wise choice to make?

Let us look at that from another angle- Think about this teenage boy or girl who says, ‘I and my daddy are friends, so he tolerates everything I do’. This boy/girl walks home from school and he sees his father who has already returned from his work relaxing in the sitting room, and instead of greeting his father, he/she starts urinating on the rug in the sitting room right there in the presence of his father, and in his/her mind he says to himself, ‘father will understand, he is my friend, am just feeling pressed’.  Then when the father complains the child will start shouting at him. Common sense tells us that this child deserves to be flogged, because the Bible says that foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction drives it away from him.

Now the things that will prevent this child from carrying out this foolish act are:

 1.The fact that his mind tells him that it is wrong to do that-that is a good conscience.

2. Secondly, the fact that he fears and respects his father, and honors his father-reverential fear.

Yet he knows that his father is his/ her friend and will not be afraid to watch the television and movies in his presence and laugh during a laugh it off show because his/father permits him/her to do that.

Finally in Malachi chapter1 and verse 6, we read as follows:

6 “A son honoureth His father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour, where is mine honour? And if I be a master, where is my fear? Saith the Lord of hosts, O priests, that despise my name, And ye say, wherein have we despised thy name?

Remember that we are priests and kings according to the book of Revelation, some may think that he is just talking to the old covenant priests or the Pastors only-No- he is talking to all of us.

Then if you are a friend of God, the Bible tells us in the book of Proverbs chapter 18 and verse 24 how to conduct good relationships/friendships.

24 “A man that hath friends, must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother”.

These scriptures simply tell us that if God is watching us and is with us all the time, and we say that he is our master or father, then He deserves our reverence, our honour, our respect and our obedience.

Holiness is not only a gift from God, it is a quality that God says that we can constantly improve on hence the call to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, wholly and acceptable to God (Romans 12 verses1-2). This is what you and I are called to do, though this is not a popular topic for a generation with itching ears.

DO YOU MAKE FIRE OR DO YOU MAKE NOISE WHEN YOU PRAY?

A few years ago I preached a message on radio titled as above. Today I will be sharing that message with you here. Prayer is not supposed to be a religious , powerless, routine and unproductive activity that is designed to show that you are a religious, pious and god loving fellow.

A few years ago, while listening to a dear man of God, I heard him refer to a common phrase that is used by most Nigerian Christians each time they pray, or while they are in the church  and most especially when they encounter what they consider to be satanic opposition or demonic activity. The term am talking about is ‘HOLY GHOST FIRE’ .He was essentially emphasizing the fact, that most Africans do not give and that when they do give, they give very little. Then he said, no wonder, most Africans are poor, and suffer a lot of demonic attacks, and defeat from the devil, because the secret of being rich and receiving and having power with God, is giving, as revealed in the word of God .Then he said, all that   the y know how to do is to shout –HOLY GHOST FIRE- which has no chapter or verse in the Bible, and that was when he got my attention.

            This now brings me to the subject of our discussion today-Do you make fire when you pray? The scriptures have a lot to teach us about the fact that real prayer generates fire. King   David in Psalm 141 verse 2 states thus:’Let my prayer be set before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.’ The man of God recognized the fact that there was a spiritual activity that followed prayer that could release smoke and that could   burn as an incense and ascend before the throne of God.

This was latter to be demonstrated by the man of God by the name –Elijah. The first   time he did it was when he had an encounter with the prophets of Baal as is written in the book of   First Kings, chapters 17 verse1, then the whole of chapter 18.Thus in chapter 18 and verse 37 we read: “Hear me, O Lord, hear me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God, and that thou hast turned their back again. 38 Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The Lord, he is God; the LORD, he is God.”This is the first account of how that Elijah brought down physical fire from heaven through prayer. He repeated this a second time in 2 Kings chapter 1, when an angry King, sent a band of fifty soldiers to go and bring him down from the mountain top where he was, thus in 2 Kings chapter 1, verses 10 and 11 we read, “And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven and consume thee and thy fifty, And there came fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.” If you read verse 11, you see the same feat repeated.

Actually, King Solomon, who came directly after king David, saw such a manifestation, after his prayer, during the dedication of the temple, as stated in 2 chronicles chapters 6 and 7.Thus in chapter7 and verse 1, we read; “Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, then fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the hou se”.

Now in the New testament book of Revelation we read in the eight chapter thus, i.e. Revelation chapter 8 verses 2 to 5; ”And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them  were given seven trumpets.3And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer ;and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.4 And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.5 And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thundering and lightening, and earthquake.”We can see from the this last instance, that the prayers of the saints in heaven, is indeed a tangible raw material for the angels of God to work with, and that after the mixture, incredible power is demonstrated.

Conclusively, I believe in the existence of the HOLY GHOST FIRE, because the fire   that came down and consumed the captain of fifty and his fifty was called, the fire of God, and the HOLY GHOST, is God (refer to 2 Kings chapter1 verse 12).Many times, in our prayer meetings, especially in truly living churches, some individuals fall down, and begin to shake, and cry out in pains, and when this happens, many onlookers, are confused. They   wonder, what the hell in this whole wide world is going on ?, what they don’t understand, is that  when a truly righteous man prays effectually, and fervently, he generates fire –HOLY GHOST FIRE-which in turn, torments and tortures, contrary spirit beings which are true personalities, that though they are invisible, they are real. These evil beings which have forcefully possessed the weak and the ignorant are tormented and driven out by fire, because demons cannot stand the fire of God   .

Have you heared the saying that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom?

THE MYSTERY OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD (DIVINE HOLY REVERENCE)

This is the anchor, the pivot and the most important principle that is needed to conquer any devil, and to win any battle. The moment you combine this principle with faith, you can never lose or end up completely beaten by the enemy at any point in time. Let us see what the word of God says about this principle. First of all let us ask the most important question! What is the fear of the Lord? I always like the Bible definition of terms, and not my personal or some Professor’s definition because as always man’s wisdom is nonsense compared to God’s foolishness.

In the book of Proverbs, chapter 8 and verse 13 we read the definition of the fear of the Lord:

13 “The fear of the Lord, is to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the forward mouth do I hate.”

These scriptures are self explanatory, it says that you cannot say that you fear God and at the same time love or pamper your sinful habits, and addictions, or still practice any forms of wickedness.

The second thing talked about here is pride- and that in scriptural terms means making yourself, or declaring yourself an authority and saying that what you have found out through science or education is now superior to what the ultimate authority, which is God almighty, has said in his word. A very simple example of this is the idea that a man marrying another man or a woman marrying another woman is not wrong, it is just because of the constitution, or the makeup of the individuals involved. We should therefore just allow them to be that way? god has made them? (‘Because I am sure that it is not God that did it). This has been proven to be wrong over and over again, because many homosexuals have had demons cast out of them, and after their deliverance, is today married to the opposite sex. Some of these people today, also now have a ministry to homosexuals, letting them know that they have been deceived by the devil, because God cannot lie.

Talking about the benefits of the fear of the Lord, it is the first preventive measure that a wise takes against trouble. Let us look at Psalm 128, and verses 1-6, because of space and time, we look at the first two verses, you check up the rest latter.

1 “Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways.

2 For thou shalth eat the labour of thine hands; happy shalth thou be and it shall be well with thee.”

If you read the rest of that Psalm, you see promises of fruitfulness, long life, and an enduring generation. Some other scriptures go on to illumine on the benefits of divine, holy and reverential fear of the Lord.  The best of these which I encourage you to read is Psalm 112.Others still are beautiful, for example in the book of Proverbs again, chapter 10 and verse 27, we read:

27 “The fear of the Lord prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened”

And again in Proverbs chapter 14 and verse 27, we read what looks like a re-enforcement of the above scripture:

14; 27 “The fear of the Lord is the fountain of Life, to depart from the snares of death”

This last scripture tells us that when our lives, businesses, family, relationships, jobs, whatever they may be, are threatened by death due to sickness or problem, life is guaranteed, if we fear God.

I love the word of God because there is no greater authority than it, so permit me to add one last scripture here, from Deuteronomy, chapter 5 and verse 29:

29 “O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children forever!”

God is telling us that this is the panacea for all our troubles. I think that common sense even tells us that if can remember that God is also a consuming fire as much as He is a loving father every time we are tempted to enjoy the pleasures of sin (disobedience to God) for a season, we stay away from sin and we are blessed.

I wish you to welcome all my readers to my newest blog-THE HOUSE OF REVELATION.
